Shattered shower door replacement always means a new panel. Tempered glass cannot be cut, drilled or repaired once it leaves the furnace, so the broken door is measured for, ordered to size and fitted fresh.

Why tempered glass lets go
Tempered glass is very strong across its face and weak at its edges. A chip on an edge from a knock, a door that has been rubbing on tile, or a tiny impurity inside the glass itself can release the stress stored in the panel all at once. That is why it breaks into small granules rather than shards.
Check the fit before the new panel
A door that rubs the wall, the curb or the fixed panel each time it swings is loading the same edge over and over. We check hinge alignment and clearances on every side first, because a new panel hung the same way meets the same fate.
Measured, ordered, refitted
We measure the opening itself rather than the broken door, order a tempered panel with every hinge and handle hole placed before tempering, and refit it on the existing hardware where that hardware is still sound.

One company owns the job from that first look through the warranty. Replacements are booked during standard hours, Monday to Friday — we measure, order the panel, then come back to fit it. Fully insured, and estimates are free.
Questions we get after a shower door breaks
Why did my glass shower door shatter on its own?
Usually an edge that was chipped or stressed long before, from rubbing, a knock or a hinge out of line. Occasionally a microscopic impurity inside the glass is to blame. Either way the break looks sudden, but the weakness was already there.
Can you replace just the broken glass and keep the hardware?
Often, yes. If the hinges, clamps and handle are undamaged and suit the new panel, we reuse them. What cannot be reused is any piece of the old glass — tempered glass cannot be trimmed or re-drilled.
Is the new glass for a shower door tempered as well?
Yes. Glass in a shower enclosure has to be safety glazing under the 2024 IRC 308, and every panel we fit is tempered and tagged to ANSI Z97.1.
What should I do with the shower until the new door arrives?
Keep it out of use, clear the granules with a shop vac rather than bare hands, and check the other panels for chips along their edges. Then send us a photo of the opening and the hardware.
